I'm at a bit of a loose end really.

I always knew it would be tough to watch Maggie take her first steps (flaming large steps granted) back to the wild.
Oh I know its the right thing and all. I mean she couldn't live cooped in that cave forever. And now that Struan and Mairead are on the scene, well I'm more or less a bit of a spare whatnot at a thingummy.

Still I reckon I'll always have a place in her heart.

And that's the main thing isn't it?

Yeah.

Morning all! And a lovely one it is too, that's for sure!

Had a great time at the Bones / MacMillan's. Plenty of food,  wonderful great company, and only the odd singed eyebrow eh? Hope everyone else had fun too!

Meantime, Maggie and family are doing brilliantly, thanks to all of you who've been asking after them, and popping round!

And I'm not doing to badly myself, ta very much for asking!

Well I don't know about you lot, but I'm off to enjoy the rest of this lovely day!

Cheers

Charlie

08:55 am - Locked to Friends and Allies - Not visible to anyone under 18

Charles Weasley requests the pleasure of your company to celebrate the arrival of Mairead, a daughter to Maggie and Struan. Mother and daughter are both happy and well. Father is doing what he's told.

Date: This coming Friday
Venue: Back bar of the Glaikit Stirk
Time: 7pm until Hamish throws us out

Visiting our new arrival is always welcome - please let me know in advance so I can look after you -  Maggie's still a little "protective".*

Cheers,

Charlie

*Except "Uncle Hagrid" of course - he can look after himself and is welcome to just pop in any time

I can't keep flying with Maggie. It's not right. It;s not natural. She deserves the chance to be all a dragon can be. Wild. Strong. Magnificent. Above all, it's that time again. She is getting very broody.
And so there is a plan! )

03:54 pm - Locked to Bill

I've been over to see Fred. He seems very cheerful all things considered. Only.. well it's almost like he isn't accepting George has gone. I mean he played a daft trick on me, dropping a fizzbomb into my tea.

Merlin knows how he did it, he must be really good at wordless AND wandless magic, because he never moved. And then he roared with laughter and blamed George.

Anyroad, I don't want to worry Mum and Dad. Maybe you might "drop in" some time, so to speak? If only to prove that I'm not going barmy, or that Archie isn't putting something weird in the beer down the "Mucky Duck".

Well can't keep hiding away for ever I reckon. Time to dust myself down as it were and get on with life. Whatever that means. Priorities I spose. Maggie. Poor girl hasn't hunted properly for weeks. Not since.... well since then. I've been getting carcasses shipped in but it aint the same. She knows something's up. Heh I almost reckon she knows what happened when...

Anyroad, onwards and upwards. Literally. I should've looked in on Remus and Harry but.. well.. I didn't think they needed my gloomy face around. Probably set em back rather than help.

Remus has apparently no memory of the past. Didin't even know he was a werewolf. I suppose I really ought to warn him about Maggie - but she's getting a bit exciteable, so I better head straight off. Hopefully he will read this.

[Friends and Allies]

Thank you all for your the kindness and sympathy over recent weeks. It's meant a lot to all of us, especially Fred.

I'm taking Maggie out hunting soon, so don't be alarmed. Remus, Maggie is a Hebridean Black and.... oh well I will explain later - nothing to worry about mate!

Later on, if anyone's up for a beer, I reckon it's about time, don't you?

Cheers,

Charlie

07:10 pm - A little background story (OOC Post)

The surname "Thorne" - and therefore the house named after the family of that name has  many variants. Some of those are Thorin, Tern, Theron,Tharon, Thorian, Tierney, Torrin Torren, Torran, Tyrone, Tyronne and Tirone.

The family, originally Torrin, were (latterly) mainly English speakers, and gradually anglicised the name (and that of the large estate associated with it), yet the local community, largely Gaelic speaking, kept the traditional name.

Torrin, or Na Torran to use its Gaelic name, is a picturesque crofting community nestling near the head of Loch Slapin, a narrow sea loch in southwest Skye.

Map

The community which dates back over 2,000 years, is the foreground to what many regard as one of the finest mountain views in Scotland, Blaven. Torrin itself sits on Durness limestone, which accounts for the greenness, abundance of trees and varied plant flora, including more than a dozen species of orchids. Indeed much of the area is designated a site of special scientific interest. Amid the starkness of the generally treeless landscape of Skye, the area is truly an oasis.

The community is 9km (6 miles) by road from Broadford, 50km (30 miles) from Portree and 148 km (92 miles) from Inverness, the capital of the Scottish highlands.

Uamh an Ard Achadh (High Pasture Cave) is a limestone cave situated 1.25km south east of the village of Torrin on the island of Skye.  In May 2002, Steven Birch, during a routine visit to the cave, discovered disturbed archaeological deposits in an abandoned high-level fossil passage.  The material had been cast aside as spoil by visiting cavers, who were attempting to excavate a boulder choke in order to gain new passage in the cave system.  The archaeological material included a significant amount of animal bone, shellfish remains, charcoal, fire-cracked pebbles, coarse pebble tools and pottery sherds.  During previous visits to the site, animal bone had been identified in the cave sealed beneath a layer of calcite.

Well thats what the future Muggles will believe!

Has anyone seen a pair of dragonhide knickers?

I only took them off for a moment, and when I looked round they were gone.

They're my favaourites too! I got em when I was stealing from the washing lines a couple of years ago

Blimey, seems nobody can be a blood-traitor transvestite these days without someone pinching their ARSE!

Well that was an odd little jaunt and no mistake. I don't mind admitting that the place gave me the willies heebie-geebies.

It wasn't anything specific mind. Voices really. Sad voices. Like the wind moaning through the trees, only you could almost make out words. Like..."sorry"...."duty"....and............"Charlie". And..well it was almost like sobbing.  Sounded a bit like.....but nahh...that's just daft. Probably just the wind and my imagination. Yeah. Must have been. Spooky place, that's for sure.

04:42 pm - Locked to those complete and utter lunatics otherwise known as Fred and George
What in Merlin's name do you think you are up to? Don't even try to deny it. I know two are good with wards. That's why there was one specially set to alert me when either of you showed up.

The wards are there for a purpose you idiots! Two tons of flapping, flame breathing dragon to be precise. And you calmly dismantle them, as if you were letting out one of Mrs Figg's damn cats. Imbeciles!

Whichever one it was of you that thought it would be a good idea to dress up with that silly wig and wings and prance around pretending to be a harpy, in front of a dragon who's been specially trained to kill them, is both certifiably insane, and extremely fortunate to be rubbish at disguises.

But you weren't content with that, were you? No, you then decided it was a good idea to poke a Hebridean Black (blast range 30 feet) with a long pointy stick (length 10 feet). Blimey, if she hadn't just woken up and been confused by your tomfoolery, I'd have been taking whoever it was, home to Mum in a bucket.

Jumping in the sea was your only sensible move. Not just to put out the flames flaring up from your Sugar Plum Fairy outfit, but also to prevent my boot from making severe contact with the smouldering seat of your pants. Something it most certainly WILL do, if I ever discover either of you going within half a mile of that cave unsupervised.

Idiots!

You'll be pleased to hear that Padma Patil and Valerius Visconti are safe.

I was out early this morning hunting with Maggie and luckily spotted this sort of crumpled heap in the corner of one of old Hector MacNicol's fields, which turned out to be the two of them. Reckon they'd misapparated or something, but at least they hadn't splinched.

They were both suffering from exposure and totally exhausted, and Valerius has a busted up shoulder apparently, but they're in the infirmary now and Poppy reckons they'll both be okay.

Maggie is a bit jumpy these days. It's that time, and she's anxious for a mate. Course I could nip over to see old Donald MacFusty. I reckon he's got a few males over there that'd put a sparkle back in those lovely purple eyes.  Reckon that'd be a mistake though. If it all kicks off and Maggie's broody about an egg...or a little dragon nipper, then there's no telling how she'd react. Blimey, she might refuse to budge. Nahhh better let her pine over a lost love. She'll get over it.

Heh. Sounds familiar. Oh well.

Locked to Safehouses and Allies who are "of age".

Anyone up for a few jars at the "Glaikit Stirk"? I could use some good company and a few laughs

12:33 pm - Parcel for Weasley (R) hand delivered.
The parcel contains a box, within which are two exquisitely designed wine glasses, blown and handcrafted by a skilled artisan from the Botosani region of Romania.

Plus a card

Blimey, where do all the years go to? Can't even call you "shortarse" any more. What's the world coming to eh? Anyway here's something I got the lads to send over. Somehow they ended up arriving here in one piece.

You can always fill 'em and drink a toast with your lovely girlfriend. After all, you're the only Weasley who's got one of those. As you never tire of reminding us!

Anyway, Cheers mate. Have a great day!

Blimey, what is it about this place and gossip? You'd think people might have something better to do, what with a war, and St Mungo's in ruins and patients everywhere. Who does what and to whom seems pretty small beer in comparison. Well to me at any rate. Just so long as it doesn't frighten the horses. Or dragons.

Never did hear back from Hestia about that Valentine. Maybe I got it wrong then. Pillock! Wonder who it was from? And the other one - from the 17 year old? Blimey! Imagine that! That would really get their knickers in a knot around here. Heh! Oh well, no use in speculating I reckon.

Valentines day eh? Kids stuff, doesn't bother me. Yeah right Charlie.

Got two as it happens. One from someone of 17. Blimey! Flatterring of course. Heh I can just hear Mum now if I took a girl that young home. Not that I would of course. Not with the way I feel about.... well that brings me to the second Valentine.

It must have been from Hestia.....mustn't it? I mean the pickle stuff and all that? Oh if only it is. So brilliant. I mean....

Okay, only one way to find out. And if it works, well...that'll be awesome. And if I'm wrong, then I'll be the biggest pillock since....Phil, the Prime Pillock of Porlock. Whoever he was.

Well here goes nothing...

Um... As it happens, I feel exactly the same. Oh Merlin please let it be her, please let it be her

03:10 pm - Locked to the Order of the Phoenix
For those of you who wonder where I've been disappearing to recently, I've been off working on something I think you might be interested in. It's taken a long time to get it almost right, so I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up too much. I reckon though, that I've got it pretty much as good as it is going to get working as we need it to.

Essentially it is a way of dealing with airborne attacks. Specifically harpies. I'll give a full report out at the next Order meeting, but if any of you are interested, be on the cliff top above the caves near Thorne on Wednesday afternoon. Immediately after classes would be best, for those of you with teaching duties.

[Locked to Minerva McGonagall]

Minerva, I didn't exclude Lucius Malfoy from this, which was why I didn't specifically mention Maggie. If you don't want him to know about this, then I can always cancel and rearrange it for another time without inviting him. I reckoned that with him attending Order meetings, he would find out in any case sooner or later, and I suppose we ought to appear to trust him eh? Merlin help us

Oh and I hope you don't mind, but I need to use the twins in any action with Maggie. I know they can sometimes be a pain in the ar neck, but they are good lads at heart, and the best equipped to "ride shotgun" with me. Will that be okay?

ETA [Locked to Kingsley Shacklebolt]

Well the staff Quidditch team is coming along nicely, all things considered. Blimey, who'd have thought it, Remus is actually quite a good captain. We won't get humiliated, put it that way. Thats if the es-students ever actually get a team together. Still it'd be nice if Hestia got a game. She's...well she's really lovely.

[Locked to Hestia Jones]

Hi gorgeous! Great to see you on Saturday! Really enjoyed the picnic too!

Would you like to go out with me
Would you mind if I
Could we

Fancy going out for a drink sometime?

[Locked to all flying Weasleys (except Percy)]

Heh that sounds like a circus act doesnt it. But you know what I mean. I need anyone who can sit on a broom to help me with the targets for Maggie. Don't worry, you'll be far enough away. You just have to look out for fires and the like as she goes past. And make sure that no Muggles see us. Piece of cake eh? I hope I'd like to do this before the Quidditch practice on Saturday if we can. That's for those of us who actually have a team of course, eh Ron? Still you can go back to bed while the rest of us practice eh?

Well I reckon I have figured out the way to get Maggie to attack. I got a bloke I know in the wizard photography trade to knock me up a couple of pictures. One was of me being attacked by a Harpy. Bloody realistic too, giving me a right blasting it was. I dunno how he makes them. Combined a picture of me with another one I reckon. Something like that.

Anyway I left it where Maggie could see it, and legged it to the mouth of the cave to watch. When she saw it, she tilted her head, gave out a great bellow, and blew the picture into oblivion. I've never seen her so enraged. The blast blew me clean off my feet!

So I waited until she had calmed down a bit, and then let her see me. She lowered her head and nudged me a bit. Knocked me off my feet again! But I could tell she was pleased to see me! Then, when she wasn't looking, I left the other picture there. This one was of a group of Harpies just rampaging around as they do. Once more I made a dash for the mouth of the cave. When she saw this one, the bellow was even louder, the blast even fiercer. Still eyebrows aren't all they are cracked up to be eh? Hopefully Hestia no one will notice.

So now what I need to know is....does Maggie hate Harpies now? Or just wizard photographs? Blimey i can't afford any more of those, so I reckon I need to try something else.

[Locked to the Safehouses and Allies ]

Any of you lot any good at painting pictures of Magical Creatures? I'm looking for someone to paint me a few pictures of Harpies. Big pictures would be best. They're for a target range bloke I know who collects them. I He can't afford to pay very much for them, I believe, but he would be very grateful.
